Rick Scott to Seek Pay Raise for Florida's Teachers

Gov. Rick Scott will appear at Ocoee Middle School in Central Florida on Wednesday to announce his plans to increase pay for teachers.

The announcement, where according to the governors office, Scott will announce his plan to invest in education and support pay raises for public school teachers, is set for 3 p.m.

The funding will eventually be part of the governors budget that will be presented to legislators by the first week of February.

Last year, Scott's message included $1 billion more in funding for schools than in the 2011, but didnt direct any money toward pay.

In September, during an education listening tour, Scott hinted that schools had to do a better job prioritizing how money is used to help teachers.
