Rick Scott Presents Governor’s Sports Award to Jimbo Fisher and FSU Football Team

Gov. Rick Scott presented the Governors Sports Award to Florida State University Head Coach Jimbo Fisher and the 2013 FSU football team on Tuesday for their athletic achievements and winning the 2014 BCS National Championship.

The Governors Sports Award is an award given to those who have made significant contributions to sports in Florida.

It is an honor to present the Governors Sports Award to Florida State University Head Coach Jimbo Fisher and the 2013 FSU football team," said Scott. "As a college player and later as a coach, Coach Fisher has proven to be a true competitor and leader."

"I think its a great opportunity for some of these young guys to see the impact and influence they can have," said Fisher.

Scott emphasized the impact of FSU's athletics to the state of Florida.

"Just like their coach, the student-athletes with us today have demonstrated the positive characteristics that FSU athletics stand for," he said. "FSUs 2013 team will go down in college football as one of the most dominant teams in college football history.
