Rick Scott Orders Flags Lowered for Coral Springs Special Forces Member

Gov. Rick Scott has ordered state and national flags at half-staff outside the Broward County Courthouse, Coral Spring City Hall and Florida Capitol on Monday, Oct. 15 in honor of Warrant Officer Joseph L. Schiro.

Schiro, 27 of Coral Springs, assigned to 1st Special Forces Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.; died Oct. 6 in Chak district, Afghanistan, of wounds caused by small-arms fire..

Schiro, a married father of three, was on his fifth combat deployment at the time.
