Rick Scott Names Matthew Carter to Florida Board of Governors
Gov. Rick Scott named Matthew M. Carter to the Board of Governors of the State University System on Monday.
Carter, a senior staff director in the Florida Senate since 2010, previously served on the Public Service Commission from 2006 to 2009, as chairman for two years.
His management experience includes the Florida House of Representatives from 2001 to 2005, the Florida Department of Management Services from 1999 to 2001, the Florida Department of Insurance in 1998 to 1999, the Florida Department of Transportation from 1992 to 1995 and 1997 to 1998, and the Florida Department of Business Regulation from 1989 to 1991.
Carter practiced law with Carter and Associates Law Firm in 1989 and was general counsel for Martin and Associates from 1991 to 1992.
Carter succeeds Frank Martin. His term, subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate, begins March 23 and ends Jan. 6, 2019.
