Rick Scott Names Ken Detzner as Secretary of State
On Wednesday, Gov. Rick Scott announced that Kenneth Detzner will take over from Florida Secretary of State Kurt Browning. Browning announced earlier in the month that he will step down in February, after the Republican presidential primary on Jan. 31.
Kurts dedicated service and hard work with Floridas 67 independently elected supervisors of elections have prepared our state for the presidential primary later this month, Scott said in a statement released Wednesday. I am confident that Kens experience and ability to solve problems will continue our states record of fair elections for all Floridians.
Detzner is no stranger to the position, having served in the office under Gov. Jeb Bush and having been chief of staff under Secretary of State Jim Smith.
