Despite doing his undergrad work in Missouri and studying law at Southern Methodist, Gov. Rick Scott attempted to woo the Gator Nation on Thursday. Scott headed to Gainesville to present Steve Spurrier, now the head coach of the University of South Carolina football, with a Great Floridian award. Spurrier led the Gators to a national title as a coach and won the Heisman as a player there.
Steves innovative coaching style changed the way football in the South is played, Scott posted on Twitter, before adding that it was great to see current Gator coach Will Muschamp. Earlier in the year, Scott honored Tim Tebow, who also won the Heisman when he played at UF, with the Great Floridian award.
