Rick Scott Hammers Bill McCollum on Special Interest Money
Rick Scott lashed out at Republican gubernatorial primary rival Attorney General Bill McCollum on Wednesday for accepting millions in special interest money.
The desperation and hypocrisy of Bill McCollum knows no end and this is why we face a clear choice this election, said Scott. We knew about my opponents Golden Leash to special interests but now he is running an embarrassing campaign on laundered money and tax dollars. His repeated cheap stunts, misuse of office, pandering, and flip-flopping is being funded by tax dollars and, even worse, laundered money from shady Washington organizations.
To make matters worse, he is doing all of this while he is sitting attorney general, continued Scott. He refuses to disclose who is sending the massive checks his way. We know about his U.S. Sugar pay for play deal we can see those dollars going to his 527. But this latest influx of cash comes with no disclosure requirement no way to know what kind of business the donors have with Florida. What other corporations, contractors, or subjects of state investigation have become investors in McCollum Incorporated?
Now that McCollum has hung his open to secret money sign, we are sure to see even more interest groups and conjurers swoon, concluded Scott. Today, his conduct while sitting attorney general, the type of campaign he is running, and his flip-flopping and pandering on major issues are sending an important message we face a clear choice this election.
