Gov. Rick Scott will continue his push to upgrade Floridas port system by directing $38 million in state money to improving the flow in the main channel to allow larger cargo ships to reach JaxPort, according to the Florida Times-Union.
Scott said he decided to move forward with the state funding about $36 million of the total price tag after money from the federal government kept falling through, the Times-Union reported.
The money is forecast to create 3,500 jobs.
Last year Scott sailed into the port issues by putting up $77 million for dredging PortMiami to 50 feet.
