At a media event in Miami on Thursday, Gov. Rick Scott, R-Fla., called for $100 million to shore up charter schools, an increase from $75 million last year.
Our Keep Florida Working budget proposal provides Florida students with the resources they need to succeed in the classroom, Scott said. Florida students must be able to compete for the jobs of tomorrow. Thats why we are working to provide historic per-pupil funding for Florida students and invest in the schools where they learn. These investments will continue to ensure Florida students are prepared for college or a great career after they graduate.
More than 250,000 Florida students attend the 643 charter schools in the Sunshine State.
