Rick Scott Brings Out Law Enforcement Backing

State CFO Alex Sink, the Democratic candidate for governor, and the Florida Police Benevolent Association have been teeing off on Republican nominee Rick Scott during the past week -- attacking Scott over the airwaves and in the press. On Monday, the Scott team stressed that law enforcement officials were backing their candidate, with Scott campaigning with 11 sheriffs including John Rutherford of Duval County and Bob White of Pasco County.

I am honored to have these sheriffs with me today and supporting my campaign, said Scott. They put themselves in danger to keep our communities safe and we thank them for their service and bravery. I am humbled to know that they are supporting me as the candidate to bring accountability, integrity, and results to Florida. These sheriffs and Florida voters are behind the outsider with an honest plan to create 700,000 private-sector jobs in the state. Together, we will clean up Tallahassee and bring prosperity back to Florida.

"He called us all to 'get to work.' And that's resonating around the state because we know the state of Florida can be a great state; we have all we need right here to make it happen, said White. But we need old-fashioned statesmanship and courageous leadership, and we think we found that, that courageous leadership, in Rick Scott. And that is why these sheriffs are standing with me today, because they understand that. The first and best economic development dollar spent is safe communities, safe schools, and safe streets. And if we don't have that, it's very difficult for our state to prosper. So we're standing with Rick Scott today."
