Rick Scott Breaks Ground on Galaxy Aviation Facility

Gov. Rick Scott headed to Palm Beach Wednesday, breaking ground at Galaxy Aviation's newest facility at the Palm Beach International Airport.The new facility expands Galaxy Aviation's 1 million square feet of space currently occupied at the airport, and is expected to create 200 new jobs.

Galaxy Aviation employs 200 families across the state with five locations in Boca Raton, Orlando, Stuart, St. Augustine, and Palm Beach. The expansion will house 65,000 square feet of hangar space and 9,000 square feet of office space and accessory rooms. The expansion is expected to bring 150 construction jobs and 50 full-time jobs to Palm Beach.

"Today is a great day for Florida families. Galaxy Aviations decision to expand its operations in Florida indicates economic growth in our state, and proves that everything we are doing is geared toward creating jobs and opportunities for Florida families," said the governor. "Since I took office, Florida has added over 333,000 private-sector jobs and our unemployment rate dropped 4 percentage points to 7.1 percent. For the fourth consecutive month we are below the national average. Todays groundbreaking reiterates the fact that its working in Florida.

Galaxy Aviation locations across the state serve as disaster relief sites for FEMA, offering space to store food and shelter for Florida families.
