Rick Scott to Attend Port Manatee Warehouse Groundbreaking

Gov. Rick Scott will be in the Tampa area Friday for the groundbreaking of a giant refrigerated warehouse at Port Manatee.

The port, located at the entrance to Tampa Bay, will host the groundbreaking at 2 p.m. before holding an economic round-table meeting.

While the focus of port expansion has predominantly gone to digging the Port of Miami to 50 feet in preparation for the anticipated growth of trade through an expanded Panama Canal, Port Manatee was deepened to 41 feet last year.
