Rick Scott Appoints Sam Accursio to South Florida Water Management District

Gov. Rick Scott made a new appointee to the South Florida Water Management District on Tuesday.

Scott named Sam Accursio to the SFWMD. Acursio is the owner of Sam S. Accursio & Sons Farms, which grows 2,000 acres of farmland in Miami-Dade. Accursio currently serves as vice chair of the Agriculture Practices Advisory Board and is also a member of the First National Bank of South Florida Board of Directors.

Accursio succeeds Juan Portuondo. His term will begin July 28, 2015 and will continue to March 1, 2019.

His appointment is subject to Senate approval.
