Rick Scott Announces Community Grants Tied to Military Bases
Military bases in Florida will bring $850,000 in Defense Reinvestment Grants to 11 surrounding communities, Gov. Rick Scott announced Monday.
The round of grants for 2012-2013, administered by Enterprise Florida, supports base retention and economic efforts in the community.
Florida continues to be the best place in the nation for military service members and their families to live and work, Scott stated in a release. The Defense Reinvestment Grant helps maintain vital missions at Floridas military installations while fostering a cooperative relationship between the military and the community.
The overall total is the same as in the prior year.

Bay -- The Bay Defense Alliance -- $100,000.
Brevard -- Economic Development Commission of Floridas Space Coast -- $75,000.
Clay -- Clay County Chamber of Commerce -- $65,000.
Duval -- City of Jacksonville -- $95,000.
Escambia -- Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce -- $70,000.
Okaloosa -- Economic Development Council of Okaloosa County -- $125,000.
Hillsborough -- Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce -- $75,000.
Miami-Dade -- The Beacon Council Inc. -- $70,000.
Orange -- Orange County Research and DevelopmentAuthority -- $85,000.
Pinellas -- Pinellas County -- $50,000.
Santa Rosa -- Santa Rosa County -- $40,000.
