
Rick Scott Announces Christy Daly as DJJ Interim Secretary
Gov. Rick Scott signed a law on Tuesday tooverhaul the juvenile justice system with the aim of maintaining public safety. HB 7055 aims to codify principles and reform efforts which have contributed to lower juvenile recidivism rates in Florida.
On top of signing the bill, Gov. Scott also announced Christy Daly will become the interim secretary of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice following Secretary Wansley Walters retirement later this month.
Daly has held various leadership positions in the DJJ over the last few years, serving as the deputy secretary, chief of staff, legislative director, and the external affairs director.
I am proud to sign this bill today that emphasizes prevention services and trauma informed care, both of which will help us continue the recent success of the department that has driven delinquency rates down to the lowest levels in 30 years," said Scott on the bill.
