Rick Scott Adds Dec. 24 to Christmas Holiday for State Workers

Gov. Rick Scott has given state employees an early Christmas gift: a paid day off before the holiday.

In recognition and sincere thanks for your dedication, I have directed the secretary of the Department of Management Services to close all state executive buildings on Dec. 24, 2012, Scott stated in a message to state employees, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

For essential employees who have to work on Dec. 24, they will be able to float the day off at their leisure within six months.

Christmas falls on a Tuesday this year.

Last year, Scott designated Dec. 23 as an extra holiday for the weekend Christmas break.
