Rick Scott Adds Chief of Operations to Wilkins’ Job Title
David Wilkins, Floridas secretary of the Department of Children and Families, has been named the states chief operating officer for government operations by Gov. Rick Scott.
I have asked David to serve in a chief operating officer role for the state, taking an enterprise-wide approach to improving agency productivity and reducing government bureaucracy, Scott stated in a release.
David is uniquely qualified for this new role and I have asked him to replicate many of the operations, improvements and cost-cutting initiatives he has implemented as secretary of DCF.
As secretary of DCF, Wilkins has been credited with reducing the agencys administrative costs by nearly $59 million and has also introduced performance measure scorecards, while launching operational redesigns of the child protection investigation and welfare eligibility programs.
I look forward to this additional role and am committed to increasing efficiencies in state government and protecting taxpayers' hard-earned money, Wilkins stated in the release from the governors office.
