Rick Scott: 2015 the Year For Jobs
2015 was a good year for jobs, according to Gov. Rick Scott, who said Florida businesses created 21,000 private-sector jobs over the last year.
Scott made the announcement while at the dedication ceremony in Estero for the new Hertz headquarters.
"Florida is growing," Scott said. "Businesses in our state have created well over a million jobs in just over five years. This impressive milestone joins the news that our state is welcoming a record number of tourists, our crime rate is at a 44-year low and we have record high state revenues."
Scott said his $1 billion tax cut package and his $250 million Enterpise Florida fund were crucial for Florida to keep the momentum of job creation growing in the Sunshine State.
According to a press release from Scott's office, Florida businesses created 238,900 new private-sector jobs as of December. Florida’s annual private-sector job growth rate has exceeded that of the nation for 44 consecutive months, and currently sits at 3.5 percent.
