Rick Scott Highlights Job Growth in Jacksonville
Gov. Rick Scott headed to Jacksonville Monday, making an appearance at a local candy making facility to highlight local job growth in the Jacksonville area.
Scott talked about Sweet Pete's, a candy making facility which has been in operation since 1985, and touted his tax and business cuts throughout the state.
Sweet Pete's currently employs 100 Floridians.
"It is exciting to highlight their growth in Florida and across the nation with 75 new jobs just this year," Scott said about the company. "We want small businesses like Sweet Pete’s, who would directly benefit from our proposal to eliminate the income tax on manufacturers and retailers as well as the commercial lease tax."
"Our goal at Sweet Pete’s is that people leave with not only great candy and chocolates, but a memorable experience. This is only possible because of our great Sweet Pete’s team," said Peter Behringer, owner of Sweet Pete's. "We are excited to see what the next year will bring and thankful that Governor Scott recognizes our hard work and creation of more jobs for families in our state.”
