Rick Santorum Will Compete in Florida's Presidency 5 Straw Poll

Rick Santorum has joined the list of GOP presidential hopefuls who have committed to participate in Florida's Presidency 5 straw poll on Sept. 24.

Republican Party of Florida spokesman Brian Hughes confirmed that the former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania will compete in the poll that concludes the three-day P5 event in Orlando. The social conservative has lagged in single digits in the national polls.

Previously confirmed straw-poll participants are Ron Paul, Herman Cain and Jon Huntsman, who has headquartered his campaign in Orlando.

Hughes said RPOF is in communication with the other presidential hopefuls and expects further RSVPs this week.

As of now, RPOF intends to include on its straw poll ballot every candidate who participates in the Fox News debate that kicks off P5 on Sept. 22. All leading contenders have said they will be at that event.
