Rick Santorum Reels in Gary Bauer's Endorsement

Conservative activist Gary Bauer endorsed former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania for the Republican presidential nomination on Sunday. Bauer, now with the Campaign for Working Families and Our American Values, is best known for leading the Family Research Council and running for the Republican presidential nomination back in 2000.

It has become obvious that the GOP electorate is deeply divided about who should carry the banner for our values into the 2012 election against Barack Obama, Bauer wrote supporters on Sunday. I have been receiving an increasing number of questions from our grassroots supporters around the country seeking guidance on which candidate they should support. I felt it was imperative that I take the lead now.

I believe virtually all of these candidates are men who would be fantastic presidents compared to Barack Obama, added Bauer. My endorsement of Rick Santorum is in no way meant to be critical of the others. But I believe Santorum can best articulate the Reagan conservatism that has defined my political life and holds the best hope for the future our children and grandchildren will inherit. Rick Santorum is unambiguously pro-life and pro-family.
