Rick Santorum Links Mitt Romney to Obamacare Planners
Rick Santorum delivered the hardest blows yet against Mitt Romney's Massachusetts health-care program during a feisty exchange over health care.
Noting that Romney advisers counseled with Obama administration officials working to implement Obamacare, the former Pennsylvania senator said the governor "did exactly what Obama did -- focus on the wrong problem."
"It's a top-down government program without controlling costs," Santorum said.
Romney continues to insist that his plan was right for Massachusetts but that the Obama plan is wrong for the country.
When Newt Gingrich tried to pile on against the former governor, Romney shot back at the former House speaker for previously supporting an individual mandate.
In an earlier exchange, Rick Perry passed up an opportunity to challenge Romney's 59-point economic plan and instead reprised his own energy proposals that he says will create 1.2 million jobs.
