Rick Perry Trails Buddy Roemer in New Hampshire

How far has Texas Gov. Rick Perry fallen in the Republican presidential race?

A Suffolk University/7NEWS (WHDH TV) poll of likely New Hampshire Republican primary voters released late on Wednesday found that Perry was running dead last in ninth place with 1 percent.

Not only does this put Perry behind the likes of Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum in the Granite State, it also means the governor of the Lone Star State trails Buddy Roemer -- the former Louisiana governor who was not invited to a single major debate and is also running for the Americans Elect nomination -- in New Hampshire.

Perry is focusing on Iowa to breathe life into his stalled campaign and playing up his social conservatism, but unless something drastic happens in the next two weeks or so, it looks like he is about to join fellow Texans Phil Gramm and John Connally as one of the biggest presidential busts in the more than 150-year history of the Republican Party.

Keep an eye on Sunshine State News for more on the New Hampshire poll.
