Rick Perry Stresses Conservatism in Last-Minute Push for Iowa
Trying to stay alive in the Republican presidential race and hoping to place in the top four in the Iowa caucus on Tuesday night, Texas Gov. Rick Perry made his final pitch in the Hawkeye State.
Yesterday evening a huge crowd of supporters came out in Perry, Iowa, for our final rally. Our 44-city bus tour across Iowa brought together veterans, people of faith, and conservative activists to hear about our plan to overhaul Washington and spark American job creation, Perry wrote in a message to supporters sent out Tuesday morning. Unlike my opponents, I am not a Washington insider. My record in Texas is one of six balanced budgets, lowering taxes and cutting spending; meanwhile, Congress has raised the debt ceiling and added trillions to our national debt."
Perry asked supporters to contact friends and family members in Iowa to head out to the precincts on Tuesday night to back his bid.
