Richard Corcoran to be Officially Designated As 2016 House Speaker

House Speaker-designate Richard Corcoran, R-Land O'Lakes, will be formally designated as 2016 House Speaker next week.

The House Republican Conference will meet for a Sept. 16 ceremony where they will select and vote for Corcoran to take the reins of the House following the 2016 elections. Corcoran will serve as Speaker from 2016-2018.

Corcoran has served in the Florida House since 2010 and will succeed Steve Crisafulli, R-Merritt Island.

The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. in the House Chamber at the State Capitol.
