Rev. Jesse Jackson Joins Capitol Protest, Likens Rick Scott to George Wallace

Civil-rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson, who blasted Florida as an "apartheid state" earlier this month, has set foot in the Florida Capitol to join the Dream Defenders in their protest calling for a special session to discuss Stand Your Ground laws in Florida.

"This is the time to engage in massive nonviolent resistance," Jackson said during a press conference."Stand Your Ground laws must end. The manipulation of African-Americans here is disgraceful."

Jackson likened Gov. Rick Scott to George Wallace, a famous segregationist who vowed "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever" in an inaugural speech as the governor of Alabama in the 1960s.

Jackson is part of a mock special session held by the Dream Defenders to oppose Stand Your Ground laws. Hesuggested boycotting Florida earlier this month, and said he intends to spend the night at the Capitol with protesters, who have been camped out at the governor's office for over two weeks.
