The Return of Daniel Webster?
On March 16, at a dinner in Tallahassee, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee expressed his hope that former House Speaker and Senator Daniel Webster would return to politics. It looks like his wish has come true. Webster has sent out an email to his supporters that he will be making a major political announcement tomorrow night. It looks like Webster will be looking to challenge U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson.
Webster is making a late start of things and there is a crowded Republican primary field. Businessman Bruce ODonoghue and Rep. Kurt Kelly, R-Ocala, are locked in a close battle, but there are more than ten other candidates in the race, including Todd Long who was a previous candidate for the office.
Webster will also have to raise money quickly. Grayson raised more than $800,000 during the first quarter of 2010 and has more than $1.5 million for his campaign.
