Rep. Posey Piles On With More Criticism of Obama Pay Freeze Plan
U.S. Rep. Bill Posey joined the chorus of critics on Monday ripping President Barack Obama's order to freeze federal salaries.
"With 15 million Americans unemployed, and millions more underemployed, a freeze on federal employee salaries is not too much to ask. But we need a serious examination of federal agency spending, a list of the priorities for our nation and surgically cut out waste where its found, Posey, R-Cocoa, told Sunshine State News.
For the past two years, one of every three dollars the federal government spent was borrowed. No nation can survive while continuing down that path," Posey noted.
Posey has street cred when it comes to payroll and budget issues. Last year, he gave back his pay raise and also returned nearly $100,000 to the U.S. Treasury out of his Congressional Office Budget.
