Rep. Allen West Says Liberal Group 'Trying to Confuse Seniors'
Saying President Obama and the Democrats have no plan to rescue Medicare from insolvency, U.S. Rep. Allen West slapped back at a liberal activist group that launched a Facebook ad campaign against him.
Americans United for Change this week attacked the Florida Republican for "favoring corporate jets over health care for seniors" by supporting Rep. Paul Ryan's budget plan.
West, through chief of staff Jonathan Blyth, called the AUC's broadside "another attempt by a liberal activist group to try to confuse seniors to the fact that President Obama and the Democrats in Congress have no plan to protect and save Medicare, which will go bankrupt in 13 years.
"From oil subsidies to now corporate jets, these liberal groups are trying to cover up the fact that Democrats in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act cut $575 billion in the Medicare system over the next 10 years and created a panel of 15 bureaucrats to enforce price controls and reduce care to seniors.
"I trust the seniors of Florida will realize that these attacks just dont fly," said West, R-Plantation.
