Renewable Energy Groups Push for Special Session in November
An energy conference turned up the heat for a special legislative session to address renewable-energy policy.
Speaking at the Orlando meeting, incoming Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, told the gathering he is committed to passing policies that will promote renewable energy -- perhaps as early as November.
The state of Florida has the potential to significantly participate in several emerging energy industries but we are falling behind other states that are competing for these opportunities, said Josh Kellam, senior vice president of Global Energy United LLC.
We are thankful for Senator Haridopolos and Representative Stephen Precourts leadership and hope they will encourage the Legislature to take action before the end of 2010," said Kellam, who spoke on behalf of conference sponsor Citizens for Clean Energy, a coalition of businesses, researchers and academics.
