Rasmussen Poll: 56% Favor Offshore Drilling; 47% Deepwater Drilling

While Florida lawmakers buzz around the Capitol, called back in the middle of the summer for Charlie Crist's overkill special session, the rest of the country is virtually split down the middle over whether offshore drilling -- even deepwater drilling -- should be allowed.

The latest Rasmussen Reports' national telephone survey -- taken just after the oil gusher was capped on the Gulf floor -- finds 56 percent of American voters think we should go ahead and allow offshore drilling. That's down from 60 percent last month. And 47 percent are OK with deepwater drilling -- the same kind that was under way when an oil leak and an explosion created the worst man-made environmental disaster in our nation's history.
