Randall Terry: John Boehner Betrayed Pro-Life Advocates

On Wednesday, pro-life activist and Democratic presidential candidate Randall Terry, best known for founding Operation Rescue, slammed Republican leadership in Washington for keeping federal funding of Planned Parenthood.

While Terry said that U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, should be commended for cutting off federal funds for abortion in Washington, D.C., he found little else to cheer in the recent budget agreements.

Let there be no mistake: the continued funding of Planned Parenthood was a colossal defeat for the pro-life movement, said Terry. It showed that politicians neither respect nor fear us, and our enemies hold us in outright contempt. Worse yet, hundreds of thousands of babies will continue to die in Planned Parenthoods killing fields, whose rent and utilities is funded by pro-lifers' tax dollars.

Terry sharply disagreed with pro-life advocates and pundits who called the final budget agreement a victory for pro-lifers.

Boehner should have gotten up from the table and walked out, and left it to Obama and Reid to explain why they are shutting down the government because they are so committed to the criminal syndicate of Planned Parenthood, insisted Terry. But worse than more ... untimely cheerleading is the silence of most pro-life groups. No other D.C.-based (nationally known) pro-life group that I know of has publicly condemned or even criticized Boehners failure. They are all silent. This silence appears to signal that certain pro-life leaders are more committed to party than principle; more committed to Republicans than to the babies.

Let all pro-lifers and tea party activists view this for what it is: another defeat on the installment plan. Babies are still dying, our nation is still going broke, and John Boehner is helping the generals of the opposing army reach their objectives, concluded Terry. Now is not the time to praise Boehner, it is the time to hold him and his associates accountable. We should do everything in our power to replace them with men and women of valor and ethics who will take us to real victory, not surrender to our ideological foes and call it a victory.
