Ralph Reed Hails Rick Scott and Marco Rubio at Tea Party Conference
Ralph Reed praised the tea party movement and Florida on Saturday, applauding the election of Gov. Rick Scott and Sen. Marco Rubio.
"We replaced Charlie Crist with Rick Scott. That was a pretty good trade," said Reed, who grew up in Miami and became the first executive director of the Christian Coalition.
"Marco Rubio will be a leader for our values for the next 25 years," he added.
Speaking globally, Reed said, "Liberty and freedom is the birthright of every single human being in the world. People are going to be free all over this planet because Americans had the courage to fight.
"The tea party is reasserting this founding idea -- that an ever-expanding government restricts our freedom. As government expands, liberty contracts."
As for the "opinion elites who look down their noses at you and tell lies about you, our right to speak out and organize has been purchased by those who paid the ultimate price. We are here to stay," Reed said to thunderous applause.
