Quick Correction on 9th House District Story
Well we all make mistakes and I made one in my rush to deadline. In my story on energy and the battle shaping up in the 9th House District between Rep. Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda, D-Tallahassee, and former Leon County Democratic chairman Rick Minor, I said, "She may be in for another tough fight in 2010 as Minor's campaign has kept up with her fundraisng efforts the last two quarters."
This should have read "kept up with her fundraising efforts two of the last three quarters."
The last quarter of 2009 clealry belonged to Rehwinkel Vasilinda, who raised $27,205.90 in contributions compared to Minor's $9,228.30. Minor did not keep up with her at all that quarter and the earlier story should have reflected this fact.
In the third quarter of 2009, Minor raised $21,050 in donations, took out $10,000 in loans for the campaign and got in-kind donations in the amount of $1,526.23. During the same period Rehwinkel Vasilinda raised $16,495 and had $1,0628.22 through in-kind donations.
As reported in the earlier story, Minor kept pace with her the first quarter of 2010. He raised $16,738 in contributions with $1,921.43 through in-kind donations. Rehwinkel Vasilinda garnered $18,305 in contributions during the same period.
However, it also should be noted that Rehwinkel Vasilinda was at some disadvantage since she was prohibited by law from conducting any fundraising in March while the Legislature was in session. (This will hold true for the second quarter numbers as well since she would not be able to raise funds in April either.)
