Putnam Open to 'Stupid' Gaming Money for State Fair Land in Tampa

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam is willing to consider relocating the Florida State Fair, according to the Tampa Tribune.

However, he says it may take stupid money -- such as the $236 million Malaysian conglomerate Genting has paid for the Miami Herald property in Miami -- to really influence such a move.

"If somebody wanted to give (the state) the kind of 'stupid money' that they paid for the Miami Herald property, I would listen," Putnam said, according to the Tribune.

The Tribune reports that members of the Florida State Fair Authority have been considering development at the fairgrounds in Hillsborough County as ameans to generate income.
