PSC Confirms Executive Director's Resignation
The Florida Public Service Commission has formally accepted the resignation of executive director Timothy Devlin, which he submitted Monday under pressure from commissioners.
Commission chair Art Graham, who reportedly helped to push Devlin out, praised his 35-year tenure with the PSC.
"For 35 years, he has steadily increased in importance to this organization. Tim had a full, successful career at the PSC, rising all the way to the very top. Among the many achievements he's had, he can look back on, maybe the most impressive that he's had as executive director is that he's transitioned six new commissioners into their job in over a year," Graham said.
As referenced by Graham, the PSC has been the subject of much turmoil and turnover in recent years, as lawmakers tussled with former Gov. Charlie Crist over appointments to the five-member board.
Devlin was named executive director in January 2010, replacing Mary Bane. Graham said the PSC will meet Wednesday to hash out the details of finding a replacement for Devlin, but Curt Kiser, who is currently listed as general counsel on the PSC's website, will take over as executive director on an interim basis beginning after July 1, when Devlin's resignation becomes effective. Commissioner Julie Brown, who has been on the commission for six months, will head up a nominating commission to find a new executive director.
