Pro-Obama Super-PAC, Not So Super, Fundraising Reports Reveal

Financial disclosures for the month of January reveal why President Obama and his team may have changed their priorities when it comes to embracing the unlimited donations allowed by super-PACs.

Priorities USA, the not-so-super group backing President Obama, reported a mere $59,000 for the first month of the year. That's pocket change compared with Republican counterparts. Restore Our Future, the pro-Mitt Romney group, raised $6.6 million, while Winning Our Future, which fuels Newt Gingrich, raised $11 million.

Luckily for Obama, the Democratic party fared better, with donations to the Democratic National Committee and Obama Victory Fund totaling $13.3 million in January.

Republicans also boasted about their substantial January haul. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in a release, The Republican National Committee is off to a strong start in 2012. Building on our momentum from 2011, the RNC raised an impressive $10.4 million in January, bringing our cash-on-hand total to $23.4 million."

Even though they raised more in January, the Democrats have less cash in the bank, with a reported $15.7 million cash on hand.
