Presidential Primary: RNC Chief of Staff Jeff Larson in Tally Tuesday to Light a Fire Under Florida Repubs
Look for Tuesday to be a big day in The Great Florida Presidential Primary Standoff.
Florida Repubs have leaked that Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Jeff Larson will show up in Tally in the morning to meet with officials about the 2012 primary calendar.
According to the leakers, Larson is going to meet with aides to state Senate President Mike Haridopolos and House Speaker Dean Cannon. Haridopolos and Cannon are in a position to move Florida's rule-breaking Jan. 31 primary to a later date if they are so disposed. But, no. Most Sunshine State GOPers don't want to settle for anything less than fifth place on the primary calendar.
One of them told Politico, "There is nothing the RNC can do in this situation unless they are ready to offer a lifting of all sanctions related to Florida's primary being held prior to March 6, because it will be held prior to March 6."
With Haridopolos and Cannon busy on huge budget reforms, time is running out to put a plan together for rescheduling the primary.
