President Obama to Talk Tourism in Orlando; Bill Nelson Takes a Hike

President Obama will be in Orlando on Thursday to talk about tourism, but Sen. Bill Nelson won't be there.

News reports said Obama will visit Walt Disney World, where a White House aide said the president will "unveil a strategy that will significantly help boost tourism and travel."

Nelson's office told reporters that a scheduling conflict will prevent the Democratic senator from appearing with the president -- a statement that was quickly mocked by Nelson's Republican foes.

GOP senatorial candidates Connie Mack and George LeMieux questioned Nelson's no-show.

"Is Sen. Nelson running from the president he has been in lockstep with 98 percent of the time, or embracing the notion that announcing another, revised economic plan in Fantasyland could possibly be rooted in reality?" the Republican congressman asked.

LeMieux spokeswoman Anna Nix said, "Nelson is going to need all the Disney Magic he can get to pull off distancing himself from President Obama and telling voters hes a moderate.

"For the past three years, Nelson has voted with Obama over 97 percent of the time. Nelson supported Dodd-Frank, Obamacare, and raised the debt ceiling, while George LeMieux refused to vote for fiscally irresponsible legislation," Nix said.
