Possible 2012 GOP Senate Hopefuls Laud Federal Decision on Obamacare

With a federal judge in Virginia upholding a constitutional challenge on Monday against new federal health-care measures backed by President Barack Obama, potential Republican candidates looking to run for the U.S. Senate in 2012 praised the decision.

Todays ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Henry Hudson in Virginia is great news for all those who believe in freedom and the Constitution, said U.S. Rep. Connie Mack, a Republican who is thinking of taking on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012. Nowhere in the U.S. Constitution does it state that the federal government can force individuals to purchase something, including health insurance.

Todays news is a good start, but the fight is far from over, added Mack. We must continue to stand for freedom from an overreaching government, and advocate for nothing less than a full repeal of this disastrous and unconstitutional law.

Other potential candidates -- including U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney and Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, also weighed in on Monday, cheering the decision on their Twitter accounts.
