Portrait of Gov. Crist Unveiled at Capitol

The portrait of former Gov. Charlie Crist, along with those of other past governors, now adorns the hall leading into the governor's office in the Capitol building after being officially unveiled Monday. The current inhabitant of that office, Gov. Rick Scott, said he'll take notice.

"I look forward to coming in every day and seeing your portrait," Scott told Crist during the unveiling ceremony. Scott praised Crist for easing him into office, but discussion of his record while in office was not forthcoming."I want to thank you for your help during the transition; you were very gracious," Scott said.

Crist left his position as governor to run unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate. Down in the Republican primary polls to eventual winner Marco Rubio, Crist opted to leave the GOP and run as an independent, earning the ire of many staunch conservatives.

"The opportunity to serve was a privilege greater than I ever imagined," Crist said.
