Port St. Lucie Mayor Resigns After Her Arrest

In the midst of the prolonged economic slump, politicians are falling on hard times, too.

The latest case in Florida involves Port St. Lucie Mayor Pat Christensen, who resigned Wednesday after she was arrested and charged with falsifying records.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Christensen deposited about $3,800 from campaign funds into her personal account and, on at least two occasions, wrote checks to herself from campaign funds.
