Poll: Tea Party Movement Heads Toward Obama Territory ... Down

While President Barack Obama's rating sank to all-time lows in one poll, the tea party movement didn't fare much better in another.

On the same day a Quinnipiac University survey found that fully 50 percent of respondents believe Obama does not deserve to be re-elected, a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll reported Wednesday that nearly half of its respondents had an unfavorable view of tea parties, in the same league as the Democratic and Republican parties.

The tea party movement pulled a 32/47 favorable/unfavorable rating, with the favorable figure dropping five points since December.

The Democratic and Republican parties each polled at 48 percent unfavorable.

CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said the tea party took its biggest hits from people who make less than $50,000. Roughly half of all American households have incomes under $50,000.
