Poll: Rachel Maddow or Bill O'Reilly for Election News? (Many) More Americans Like Fox News -- Period

Rachel Maddow? What's a Rachel Maddow?

Sorry, MSNBC, apparently not many folks could pick your liberal show-host out of an anchor chair, let alone a crowd.

According to a POLITICO/George Washington University Battleground Poll released Monday, as TV goes, more Americans get their midterm election news from Fox News than any other cable channel.

Forty-two percent of the poll's respondents said conservative, "fair and balanced" Fox was their main source of political news, followed by CNN at 30 percent and liberal MSNBC a distant third at 12 percent.

Fox's opinion personalities came up big, too. One of them, Bill O'Reilly, has far and away "the greatest positive impact on the political debate in the country," according to poll analysis, with 49 percent of respondents rating him positively and 32 negatively.

Glenn Beck was the second most-positively rated personality. He got a 38 percent positive impact and a 32 percent negative impact.

And lefty MSNBCs personalities? Who-are-yas, every one of them. In the poll of 1,000 likely voters conducted Sept. 19 to Sept. 22, some 70 percent had never heard of Ed Schultz, 55 percent had never heard of Rachel Maddow and 42 percent had never heard of Keith Olbermann. Ouch.
