Poll Finds Newt Gingrich Fading in Iowa; Sunshine State News Live-Blogs Tonight's GOP Debate
Sunshine State News will live-blog tonight's GOP presidential debate in Sioux City, Iowa.
The 9 p.m. debate on Fox -- the last scheduled before Iowans caucus on Jan. 3 -- comes as Newt Gingrich's poll numbers are sliding.
The latest survey by Rasmussen Reports finds the former House speaker back down to 20 percent of likely caucus-goers -- shedding 12 points from a month ago.
Mitt Romney has retaken the lead, but still has only a 23 percent share, Rasmussen said.
Ron Paul garnered 18 percent, Rick Perry 10 percent, Michele Bachmann 9 percent, Rick Santorum 6 percent and Jon Huntsman 5 percent.
Other recent polls have shown Paul leading the ever-shifting field, and it is expected that he will get more air time than he did at the ABC debate last weekend, when he received less than any other candidate on the stage.
Huntsman, who sat out the ABC debate, said he will participate in tonight's forum.
