PIP Reform May Limit Coverage to Immediately Needed Care

An effort to reduce fraud in personal injury protection (PIP) auto insurance would revamp policies to cover emergency care and services required within three days of a crash.
A House bill being put together as a priority of Gov. Rick Scott and Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater to reform the no-fault coverage would, according to the Sun-Sentinel, limit coverage to things like ambulance costs, hospital treatment provided within 72 hours of the wreck, in-patient care for someone admitted to the hospital within 72 hours, or services for an insured with a medical condition diagnosed originally after the wreck.
