Paul Ryan Not Running for President in 2016

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., announced on Monday that he will not seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.

Ryan told NBC News on Monday that he is focused on his congressional duties, including his new post as chairman of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee.

Ryans decision could help two other Republicans with their eyes on 2016. Back in 2012, Ryan was former Gov. Mitt Romenys, R-Mass., vice presidential candidate. After Romney lost, Ryan continued to praise him, encouraging him to run again. Gov. Scott Walker, R-Wis., will also be helped by Ryan staying out of the fray as he would be the only major candidate from Wisconsin.
