Past Imperfect: Democrats Attack Tom Rooney's Restore America Act

What are they smoking over at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee?

The DCCC attacked an economic plan proposed by Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Tequesta, as "repackaging the same failed Republican policies."

But Rooney's Restore America Act -- which calls for less regulation, more domestic energy production and closing corporate tax loopholes -- is a serious departure from the policies of this and previous administrations.

While the DCCC critique lacks originality, it does raise two key questions:

1. The centerpiece of Rooneys plan is to get rid of corporate tax loopholes and replace them with across-the-board cuts in marginal tax rates.When was that policy tried?

2. If the DCCC is so opposed to repeating failed policies, when will it ask President Obama to abandon Stimulus 2.0 -- which is a miniature version of the failed Stimulus 1.0 -- and try something new?"
