Pam Bondi: Three SUR 13 Gang Members Given Lengthy Sentences
Three members of the SUR 13 street gang each received nearly a half-century in sentences in a Palm Beach County courtroom after accepting plea agreements.
Attorney General Pam Bondi noted the three -- Jose Sanchez, 30, Victor Castillo, 29, and Roberto Trejo, 22 -- were prosecuted by the Office of Statewide Prosecution.
The three are said to be part of a larger gang that has been charged with two homicides, a drive-by shooting, armed robberies, arson, aggravated battery, and multiple theft and drug-related charges. Other defendants have also reached plea agreements with the state. One remains a fugitive.
These gang members terrorized Palm Beach County and the surrounding communities with shootings, robberies, arson, battery and drug-related crimes. Thanks to the efforts of our prosecutors and strong partnerships with law enforcement, these gang members are off of Floridas streets and behind bars, Bondi stated in a release.
Sanchez was sentenced to 55 years in prison for racketeering, conspiracy to commit racketeering and possession of cocaine. Castillo was sentenced to 45 years for racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering. Trejo was sentenced to 50 years for attempted second-degree murder and three counts of armed robbery with a firearm.
