Pam Bondi Says She Will Crack Down on Fraud if Elected
Former Assistant State Attorney Pam Bondi, the Republican nominee for attorney general, focused on fraud on Monday -- maintaining that she is ready to handle Medicaid fraud and mortgage fraud matters.
"With a struggling economy, scam artists are out in full force, looking to take advantage of our seniors, our homeowners and our taxpayers," said Bondi, who pointed to a report by the Florida Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability study that Medicaid fraud costs Florida taxpayers between $785 million to $3.2 billion annually. "I have spent my career prosecuting fraudulent activities, and I will continue to take every possible step to be a watchdog for the citizens and consumers in our state.
"With over 1 million people out of work, foreclosure rates at record highs and mounting financial pressure on Florida's families and businesses, we must protect our economy and work to bring jobs to this state, said Bondi. As attorney general, I will protect our consumers, citizens and taxpayers from fraud, keep them safe from crime, and stand up for them against the economically devastating federal health-care takeover.
